DHAKA, May 28, 2018 (BSS) – Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid today
said the government will set up a model training institute in the country.

“The country needs a model training institute to bring a qualitative
change in the entire education system,” he told a function in a city hotel.

Secretary of Technical and Madrasah education Division Md Alamgir, senior
officials of the education ministry and representatives of different local
and international organizations, among others, addressed the function.

Nahid said the government has set a target of 30 percent enrolment in
technical education by 2030 aiming to transform Bangladesh into an
economically developed country.

“In 2009, there was only one percent student enrolment in the technical
education while the current enrolment rate is 14 percent,” he added.

“We are promoting knowledge-based education to develop skilled human
resources to turn Bangladesh into a middle-income country. Education without
skills will create a burden for a family as well as the nation,” he said.

“To maximize the benefit of using ICT in a classroom, we need a bunch of
trained, motivated and technology-friendly teachers who will make the whole
process effective and successful,” the minister added.
