JS body recommends accommodation with day-care for working women

DHAKA, Sept 24, 2019 (BSS) – The seventh meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs was held today at the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Bhaban with committee chairman Meher Afroze, MP, in the chair.

Members of the committee, Md Shajahan Mia, A M Naimur Rahman, Md Abdul Aziz, Shabnam Jahan, Lutfunnesa Khan and Syeda Rashida Begum attended the meeting, said a press release.

The meeting called for affordable accommodation of the working women outside the Dhaka. The committee placed a recommendation to present a list of the working women hostels under the Women and Children Affairs directorate and organizations and to finish the existing projects soon as possible.

The committee also recommended lowering the prices of the hostel room and facilitating them with day-care centers.

The committee recommended the Directorate of Women Affairs to incorporate the vacant posts of the revenue budget transferred from various projects, which are currently not in the recruitment rules of the department in the next recruitments.

The committee also recommended opening branches of ‘Shishu Academy’ in upazila level.

Senior officials of the ministry and JS secretariat were also present at the meeting.
