Youths can help build digital Bangladesh: Dr Hasan

RAJSHAHI, Sept 24, 2019 (BSS) – Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud today said the combined efforts of the youths can play a crucial role in achieving the ‘Vision 2021’ to build the country as a middle-income and digitalized one.

“Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is working relentlessly to take the nation to a new height by transforming the young generation into a knowledge-based and technologically sound force,” he said while replying to a question raised by many of the attending youths at a conference on youth at Shilpakala Academy here.

Responding to another question, Dr Hasan said if Sajeeb Wazed Joy and Saima Wazed Hossain Putul will join the Awami League politics, the country and its people will be benefited immensely.

He, however, said the issue of their joining politics is their own and absolutely personal choice and decision.

About rumour, the information minister said the social media, including Facebook, YouTube and Twitter have a responsibility in preventing rumours. “In most of the cases, rumours are being spread from abroad using fake accounts of social media,” he added.

Dr Hasan said he has already talked to the authorities concerned of the United Kingdom and European Union (EU) to this end. They informed that they prepared laws and policies to take action against those who spread rumours through social media and service providers, he added.

Publicity and Publication Sub-committee of Bangladesh Awami League organized the conference styled “Tarunyer Bhabnai Awami League” in association with Centre for Research and Information (CRI).

More than 250 youths from various educational institutions and many other youth orrganizations joined the conference.

Political Adviser to Prime Minister HT Imam, State Minister for ICT Junaid Ahmed Palak, Mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation AHM Khairuzzaman Liton, AL Deputy Publicity Secretary Aminul Islam Ameen and AL central committee member Professor Merina Jahan Kabita also spoke on the occasion as panel discussants.

Replying to a question, HT Imam said many opportunists have been intruded into Awami League and they are affecting the party in many ways. All the intruders will be driven out, he added.

Junaid Ahmed Palak said proper use of the potentials of country’s youth will accelerate the ongoing national development.No youth will remain jobless if they concentrate on skill-based education, mentioning that some 1.5 crore employment opportunities will be created through different economic zones soon.

He said Bangabandhu Hi-tech Park is being built on 31.63 acres of land in Rajshahi which will play a vital role in boosting economy of the region by creating new technology-based employments. Upon successful implementation, the project will create new employment for more than 14,000 youths both male and female, he added.

Taking part in the panel discussion, Mayor Liton urged the government and business bodies to take initiative of establishing big industries in Rajshahi and its outskirts for creating scopes of employment.
