Nabi leaves Test cricket with holding head high

CHATTOGRAM, September 9, 2019 (BSS)-Even though his performance in the
one-off Test against Bangladesh was not impressive enough, Mohammad Nabi left
the longer version, holding his head high as his side won the Test by 224-
run.

Nabi scored 0 and 8 in two innings while with bowling he claimed 3-56 in
first innings before finishing the second innings with 1-39.

Nabi played all three Tests of Afghanistan but his career in this format
doesn’t spoke the volume of his credential. He scored just 33 runs and
scalped 8 wickets in three Test matches.

But to his delight, Afghanistan won two matches in these three Test
games, for which Nabi considered himself proud Test cricketer.

The 34-year old who led Afghanistan also said he left the Test cricket
to create opportunity for the young players.

“I had the dream to play Test cricket for Afghanistan. We have worked
really hard for that in a short time, not last 13 to 14 years, we have
achieved that target eight to seven years,” Nabi said.

“We struggled a lot, we had to prepare mentally, combine a team
combination. We have played inter-continental cup for three times and we won
twice and was runner-up in once. It’s a very good result and because of that
ICC gave us Test status. And I am very happy to be part of that generation of
Afghanistan.”

“My plan that the youngsters would be prepared for next Tests as they
are the future for us. That’s why I leave Test matches and focused for one-
day internationals and T20s.”
