DNCC allocates Tk 4026 crore for 18 new wards

DHAKA, Sep 6, 2019 (BSS)- In a renewed vigour to make the city roads more vehicle-friendly, the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has embarked on spending around 4026 crore for construction and development works of road infrastructure and drainage system in the newly included 18 DNCC wards.

“Through the ‘construction and development of road infrastructure and drainage system’ project, the newly incorporated 18 wards of DNCC will be given new looks spending around Tk 4026 crore in the days to come,” said DNCC Mayor Atiqul Islam while presenting the DNCC budget for fiscal year 2019-20 at a press conference at the Nagar Bhaban in the city’s Gulshan area on Thursday.

About 161.72 kilometer (km) roads will be constructed in the concerned areas while 222.82 km drainage line will be also developed under this project, he said, adding that a total of 11,224 LED lights will also be installed.

He said a link road from Mirpur Ansar Camp via Rajanigandha Market and Kakoli to Matikata will be made along with elevated roads, drains and footpaths at a cost of Tk 3000 crore for the benefits of the city dwellers of these areas.

Referring to the future development of the project, the mayor said that roads, dumping platforms, drainage system and plantation will feature the works at Uttar city through the “Aminbazar Landfill Expansion and Modernization Project”.
