69,499 pilgrims return after Hajj so far

DHAKA, Sept 2, 2019 (BSS) – A total of 69,499 pilgrims so far have returned
home on 192 flights from Saudi Arabia after performing the holy Hajj.

Among the 192 hajj flights, 90 were operated by Biman Bangladesh Airlines
while 102 were operated by Saudi Arabian Airlines ‘Saudia’, Hajj Office
sources confirmed today.

State Minister for Religious Affairs Advocate Sheikh Md Abdullah said,
“Bangladeshi hajj pilgrims face no problems during the Hajj. The hajj
authority of Saudi Arabia had a separate meeting and took initiatives to take
good care of the Bangladeshi Alem-Ulama and hajj pilgrims and give them
special honor.”

This year, a total of 1, 27,152 pilgrims including members of hajj
management went to Saudi Arabia from Bangladesh through 365 flights of Biman
Bangladesh Airlines and Saudia Airlines for performing hajj.

Of them, 112 Bangladeshi hajj pilgrims, including 17 women, died in Saudi
Arabia, said the Hajj office.

Among the dead, 100 died in Makkah, 11 in Madina and one in Jeddah, the
sources added.

The return flights of hajj pilgrims started on August 17 and the last
return hajj flight is expected to land on September 15.
