11 govt. primary schools devoured due to erosion in Gaibandha

GAIBANDHA, Aug 19, 2019 (BSS) – A total of eleven Government Primary
Schools of three upazilas in the district were devoured by the river of
Brahmaputra due to its erosion last month hampering academic activities.

This was disclosed by district primary education officer (DPEO) M. Hossain
Ali while he was briefing his departmental activities in the monthly meeting
of district development coordination committee.

The meeting was held at the conference room of deputy commissioner (DC)
here on Sunday with DC Abdul Matin in the chair.

DPEO M. Hossain Ali said of the total, some five schools are in Fulchhari
upazila, four in Sadar upazila and two in Sundarganj upazila.

The schools are Haru Danga Govt. Primary School, Dhulipata Govt. Primary
School, Ketkirhat Govt. Primary School, Zamira Govt. Primary School and
Angaridaha Govt. Primary School under Fulchhari upazila,

The schools also include Chithulia Char Govt. Primary School, Chithulia
Dighar Nutunpara Govt. Primary School, Baze Chithulia Govt. Primary School
and Moulavir Char Govt. Primary School under Sadar upazila and Uzan Burail
Govt. Primary School and Char Purba Lalchamar Govt. Primary School under
Sundarganj upazila.

Considering the interest of the students, the schools are being run at the
yards of the local persons for the time being at the instructions of the
primary education officials, the DPEO also briefed.

After getting land locally and then, building infrastructures there the
lesson activities for the students would resume at the respective academic
institutions freshly, the DEPO mentioned.
