One dies, 80% dengue patient returns home after treatment

KHULNA, Aug 19, 2019 (BSS) – One dengue patient has been died in Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH) early today.

The deceased was identified as Mizanur Rahman 40, a vegetables grocer, son of late Akher Ali, hailed from village Khajadanga under Rupsha upazila in Khulna.

Razib, brother of deceased Mizan said he was admitted to KMCH on August 15 with dengue fever. He breathed his last this morning during treatment, confirmed Residential Physician (RP) of KMCH Dr Shailendranath Biswas.

Meanwhile, around 80 percent out of total 2,706 dengue patients, who have been admitted to hospitals in 10 districts of the Khulna division, have returned home after recovery.

A total of 2,142 patients infected with the mosquito-borne disease have left hospitals so far, according to Additional Director Dr Ferdousi Akter, Director of Health in Khulna Division.

According to health officials a total of 2,706 patients so far were diagnosed with dengue fever in different hospitals. Out of them eight people died from the disease.

Now 491 patients are taking treatment in different hospitals and clinics. In the last 24 hours 117 new dengue patients were admitted to different hospitals while 73 patients has been referred to Dhaka, Dr Ferdousi said.
