Maleque demands trail of Bangabandhu killing masterminds
DHAKA, Aug 4, 2019 (BSS) – Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque today demanded trial of the masterminds behind the assassination of Father of Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
“The masterminds and their accomplices in Bangabandhu killing should be brought to justice,” he told a discussion arranged by Swadhinata Chikitsak Parishad (SWACHIP) marking the month of mourning in the auditorium of BSMMU, said a press release.
The minister said the killers of Bangabandhu carried out grenade attacks on August 21, 2004 to kill Bangabandhu’s daughter and the then Opposition Leader Sheikh Hasina.
He said the accomplices of Bangabandhu killers are now hatching conspiracy to turn the country into a failed state.
“When the country is moving fast to become a developed nation under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the conspirators are out to halt the development trend of the country,” he said.
Maleque said sometimes the ill-forces are hurling petrol bombs to kill innocent people and sometimes they spread rumors to create instability in the country.
Former Health Minister Dr AFM Ruhal Haque, Bangladesh Community Clinic Health Support Trustee Board Chairman Prof Dr Syed Modasser Ali and Awami League Health Affairs Secretary Dr Rokeya Sultana addressed the discussion as the special guests.
SWACHIP President Prof Dr M Iqbal Arslan chaired the discussion which was moderated by the organization’s general secretary Prof Dr MA Aziz.
