Seven lakh pieces yaba tablets recovered in Cox’s Bazar

COX’S BAZAR, July 26, 2019 (BSS) – Bangladesh Coast Guard in a drive recovered around seven lakh pieces of yaba tablets from the River Naf in Teknaf upazila of the district today.

No arrest was made in the drive as the drug traders escaped to jungle leaving their boat in the river.

Media Officer of Chattogram East Zone Coast Guard Lieutenant BN Hayat Ibn Siddique said on information members of coast guard chased a wooden boat in the river in Jailerdip area. At a stage the boat was capsized but the smugglers escaped to the jungle close to the river bank. Searching the boat they found the yaba tablets, Hayat Ibn Siddique added.

The yaba tablets worth about Taka 35 crore were handed over to the Teknaf Thana police.

A case was filed.
