JS body for digitalizing parliamentary debates

DHAKA, July 11, 2019 (BSS) – The Library Committee of the 11th parliament on Thursday recommended for digitizing parliamentary debate from 1st to 10th Jatiya Sangsad under Library Management System.

The Committee informed that Koha Software, an open source Integrated Library System, has already been installed and 40,000 books have been inputted through outsourcing under the project named “ICT Infrastructure, Human Resources and Development Technological Skills” of the parliament secretariat, said an official release.

The parliamentary body came up with the recommendation at 2nd meeting with its Chairman Deputy Speaker Md Fazle Rabbi Miah in the chair. Committee members Abdul Mannan, Md. Abdul Hye, Tanveer Imam, Md Shafiqur Rahman and Fakhrul Imam attended the meeting.

The committee was apprised of implementation, advancement and recommendation on the report on visit to Indian Lok Sabha Library.

Some 31 recommendations were made in the meeting and of those, 29 have been implemented. The committee also apprised that seat arrangement has been made as like as corporate office under umbrella project of the Jatiya Sangsad on approval of the JS speaker.

Besides, circulation has been started from data centre, archives room, computer training centre, paper unit and information desk.
