Sustainable and Renewable Energy Development Authority (SREDA) and Household Energy Platform Programme in Bangladesh jointly organized the rally and discussion to mark the opening of a three-day fair at Shilpakala Academy premises in Rajshahi city.

Helal Uddin mentioned instead of depending on only the fossil fuel emphasis should be given to enriching the renewable energy sources to face the energy challenges.

Availability of energy from different sources is vital for the present life in meeting the challenge of the ever-increasing demand for energy.

He emphasised the need for wide-ranging use of energy efficient products to reduce the existing pressure on power demands. Using energy efficient electrical appliances has become an urgent need to reduce electricity cost coupled with energy conservation which is essential for addressing the energy crises.

All concerned should work together for building social awareness about a judicious use of fossil fuel and ending its misuse. Besides, the issue of converting the irrigation system into solar power-based one should be taken into consideration immediately.
