Two-day gold fair kicks off in Rangpur

RANGPUR, June 24, 2019 (BSS) – A two-day Gold Fair-2019 began today at Rangpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) auditorium aiming to promote gold traders in the region.

Rangpur Zonal Tax Commissioner’s Office is arranging the fair to give opportunity to jewelry and gold traders in whitening undeclared gold and gold ornaments.

Mayor of Rangpur Mostafizar Rahman Mostafa inaugurated the fair at a
function as the chief guest with Tax Commissioner of Rangpur Zone Md. Abdul
Latif in the chair.

Zonal Tax Commissioner’s Office, Divisional Commissionerate of Customs and
Excise and VAT and two commercial banks have set up six stalls there to
provide services to traders for whitening undeclared precious metals and
ornaments.

Presidents, General Secretaries and Members of district units of
Bangladesh Jewelers’ Samity (BJS), District Taxes Bar Associations from
Rangpur division under Rangpur Income Tax Zone attended the function.

Additional Tax Commissioner of Rangpur Zone Sheikh Md. Moniruzzaman said
the fair is being arranged for proper implementation of the Gold Policy-2018
and to remove panic about tax among general businesspersons for developing
gold industry.

Member ((Tax Survey and Inspection) of National Board of Revenue (NBR)
Meftah Uddin Khan, RCCI President Mostafa Sohrab Chowdhury Titu and President
of Rangpur district unit of BJS Enamul Haque Sohel addressed the programme as
special guests.
