Youth held over derogatory remarks on PM
SYLHET, June 11, 2019 (BSS) – Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has detained a youth in Sylhet for allegedly making derogatory remarks on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, different ministers and political leaders and conducting anti-state propaganda using social media.
The detainee was identified as Md Jewel Ahmed, 32, a resident of Shah Paran (R) Police Station in Sylhet.
Acting a trip off, a team of RAB-9 conducted a drive in Khadimnagar area on Monday night and detained Jewel, a RAB press release said today.
A case was filed against him in this regard under the Digital Security Act and the detainee was handed over to Shah Paran (R) Police Station.
RAB officials said Jewel had long been making derogatory remarks on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, different ministers and political leaders, and conducting anti-state propaganda using social media.
