DHAKA, June 10, 2019 (BSS) – Road Transport and Bridges Minister and Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader today said BNP’s movement can’t be successful if the party’s leaders and workers stay at home.

“After calling movement, BNP leaders and workers watch Hindi serials in television. Their movement can’t be successful, if they stay at home,” he said while exchanging views and Eid greetings with journalists at his ministry meeting room at the secretariat here.

About BNP lawmaker Barrister Rumeen Farhana’s remarks that the parliament is illegal, Quader said if the parliament is illegal why she was so serious to be a lawmaker and why she went to the parliament?

The minister said BNP’s self-contradiction over parliament is clear. “BNP Secretary General did not take oath after being elected as a member of parliament. On the other hand BNP’s Bogura district unit president is now taking part in the by-election from Fakhrul’s constituency,” he added.

Quader said the party which runs with such self-contradictory policy will not succeed in any movement.

About BNP leaders’ remarks that they could not go to their village homes in Eid due to lack of congenial atmosphere, Quader said: “There was no such problem during this Eid. It is an advantage of the opposition. If they wish, they do not go their constituencies and give excuse of atmosphere.”

The minister said this time Eid journey was very comfortable as there was no traffic congestion on highways.

“Only Dhaka-Tangail highway saw a little crisis. The rate of road accident was also low. The accidents occurred due to lack of discipline on highway. We must bring discipline on highways,” he said.

About the Nusrat murder, Quader said the government is very tough over the case and there is no scope to show mercy to anybody. “The accused OC couldn’t be arrested yet. He will be arrested within quickest possible time and actions will be taken against him,” he said.

Quader said ride sharing policy will be approved within this month to check accident.

The minister said road transport act will be brought into effect after holding discussions with leaders of transport workers.
