National Children-Youth programming contest begins

DHAKA, May 22, 2019 (BSS) – The “National Children and Youth Programming Contest’ began today aimed at building skill and information technology literate youths for future to help materialize the dream of Digital Bangladesh.

As part of the national level contest, a two-day training workshop began today at Krishibid Institution Bangladesh (KIB) here.

Leading youth platform ‘Young Bangla’ and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Division jointly organized the biggest school level programing contest of the country.

Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar addressed the function as the chief guest.

Speaking on the occasion, Mustafa Jabbar said computer programming education should be started from school level to build them as skilled manpower for the country to cope with world.

He called upon the youths to be innovative for making their marks for the welfare of the country.

On the first day of two-way workshop, 400 teachers from 64 districts and 200 lab coordinators have received training on starch programming and the second day tomorrow, they will be imparted training on python language.

The contest will be arranged in 200 Sheikh Rasel Digital Lab in all 64 districts of the country. Students from Class III to Class X will take part in the contest.

Winning teams from district-level ‘Scratch and Python’ programming contest will participate in the national campaign and the final round of the contest.

Last time a total of 5,400 participants from 80 Sheikh Rasel Digital Lab in 64 districts competed for the district-level contest and 2,700 participants joined the scratch programming and 2,700 took part in python.

Scratch is a free programming language and online community where one can create one’s own interactive stories, games, and animations while python is a general-purpose interpreted, interactive, object-oriented, and high-level programming language.
