Non-govt teachers get Tk 5,000 cr retirement benefit: Dipu Moni
DHAKA, May 5, 2019 (BSS) – Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni today said Awami League-led government provided Taka 5,000 crore as welfare and retirement benefits for the non-government teachers and employees in the past 10 years.
“The non-government teachers and employees did not get any benefit earlier . . . but the incumbent Awami League government provided Taka 5,000 crore as welfare and retirement benefits for them in the past 10 years,” she said while distributing welfare and retirement benefits among them.
The function was held at Bangladesh Bureau of Educational Information and Statistics (BANBEIS) here. Dipu Moni, also ruling AL joint general secretary, said the government is very much cordial for the betterment of the non-government teachers and employees and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, in the meantime, gave a special allocation of Taka 1,627 crore as welfare and retirement benefits from them.
The minister said that Sheikh Hasina’s government sanctioned five percent increment and Boishakh allowance for them.
Deputy Education Minister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Nawfel was present as the special guest.
Senior Secretary of Secondary and Higher Education Division Md Sohrab Hossain, Director General (DG) of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) Prof Dr Syed Md Golam Faruk, DG of BANBEIS Mohammad Fasiullah and Teachers Employees Welfare Trust Secretary Principal Md Shahjahan Alam Saju also spoke.
