Five killed in Sylhet gas line blast after lightening

 SYLHET, March 18, 2018 (BSS) – Five persons including a woman and her baby were burnt to death in a gas line explosion after being hit by a lightening at a house in Golapganj Upazila of the district last night.

The fire was originated following a lightning strike at the house in the village of Laxonabond of the upazila around 2:30 am, leaving five persons dead on the spot and two others injured, said Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Golapganj Police Station AKM Fozlul Haque.

The deceased were identified as Sebu Begum, 22, of Ponaierchalk village, Sebul Mia, 17, of Dakhin Noairchalk village, Zia Uddin, 18, of Khalermukh village in Dakhin Surma Upazila, Tasnima Begum, 30, of Khalermukh village and her child Tahmid, 02.

The deceased used to live in a rented house at a colony in the village, the OC said, adding two rooms of the colony were gutted by the fire that certainly caused by lightning strike.

The injured persons identifying them as Babul Mia and Moskandor Ali were admitted to MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital here.

The bodies were also sent to the same hospital for autopsies.
