Thousands people pay rich tributes to Bangabandhu on his birthday

 DHAKA, March 17, 2018 (BSS) – Thousands of people from all walks of life including Awami League leaders and workers today thronged Dhanmondi-32 in the city and paid rich tribute to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by placing wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu marking his 99th birth day.

The Bangabandhu Bhaban in Dhanmondi turned into a human sea.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina paid glowing tributes laying wreaths at the portrait of Father of the Nation at Bangabandhu Bhaban at 7am.

After paying tribute, the Prime Minster stood in solemn silence for some times in front of the portrait as a profound respect.

A smartly turned out contingent of Bangladesh Army gave salute this time.

Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the architect of the Independent Bangladesh, was born in 1920 in a respected Muslim family at Tungipara in Gopalganj on this day.

As Awami League President, Sheikh Hasina accompanied with the party leaders then laid wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu on behalf of the party.

Awami League Advisor Council members Amir Hossain Amu and Tofail Ahmed, General Secretary Obaidul Quader, AL presidium members Begum Matia Chowdhury, Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim and Advocate Sahara Khatun, Joint General Secretaries Mahubub-ul Alam Hanif and Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Organizing Secretaries Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury and Enamul Haque Shamim, Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Sayeed Khokon, AL Cultural Affairs Secretary Ashim Kumar Ukil, Information and Research Secretary Advocate Afzal Hossain, Publicity and Publication Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud, Office Secretary Dr Abdus Sobhan Golap, among others, were present.

Later, on behalf of the Central 14-party, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) General Secretary Shirin Akhter and AL Liberation War Affairs Secretary Advocate Mrinal Kanti Das paid respect by placing wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu. Leaders of 14-party grand alliance were present.

Marking the day, all sections of people along with different cultural, profession and social organizations including the ruling party and its different associate bodies had thronged Dhanmondi-32 at around 6am for paying rich tribute to the memory of Bangabandhu.

After the departure of the Prime Minister, leaders of different political, social, cultural and professional organizations thronged Bangabandhu Bhaban for paying their respect.

Apart from this, different political and professional bodies including the Dhaka University led by its Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Akhtaruzzaman, Chhatra League Dhaka city north and south, Mohila Sramik League, Swadhinata Chikitsak Parishad, Jubo League Dhaka city north and south, Swechasebak League, Bangabandhu Parishad, Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote, Matshayajibi League, Tanti League, Muktijoddah Janata League, Bangabandhu Sainik League, Jatiya Bidhut Sramik League, Mukijoddah Foundation and Bangabandhu Ain Parishad, also paid tribute to Father of the Nation by laying wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu.
