Sub-committee to resolve moon-sighting dispute
DHAKA, April 13, 2019 (BSS) – An 11-member sub-committee headed by Mufti Maulana Abdul Malek has been formed by the National Moon Sighting Committee (NMSC)to verify claims made of moon sighting for the Arabic month of Shaban on the evening of April 6.
The sub-committee would record and scrutinize the testimonies of the claimants and place their recommendations before the NMSC on April 17.
State Minister for Religious Affairs and NMSC president Alhaj Advocate Sheikh Md. Abdullah said this while addressing a special meeting on sighting of the Shaban moon at the meeting room of Islamic Foundation (IF) at Baitul Mukarram.
The other members of the sub-committee are Allama Farid Uddin Masud, Maulana Abdul Quddus, Mufti Ruhul Amin, Mufti Mizanur Rahman Sayeed, Mufti Dilawar Hossain, Maulana Abdur Razzak Al Azhari, Mufti Md Foyjullah, Mufti Maulana Yahya, Mufti Md Mahfuzul Haque and Mufti Maulana Muhammad Mizanur Rahman.
Religious Affairs’ Secretary Md Anisur Rahman, other members of NMSC and noted alem ulamas (Islamic scholars) were present at the meeting, among others.
