Bangladesh wants safe, sustainable repatriation of displaced Rohingyas: Dr Shirin

DHAKA, April 7, 2019 (BSS) – Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury today reiterated that Bangladesh wanted safe, peaceful and permanent repatriation of displaced Rohingyas with the help of United Nations Organization and other international agencies.

“Bangladesh wants a safe, peaceful and permanent repatriation of Rohingyas . . . The IPU (Inter-Parliamentary Union) states should come forward to reach a quick and sustainable solution of the crisis of Rohingyas” who fled away here being victims of Myanmar military atrocities, the speaker said while delivering her speech in Qatar,, said

Dr Chaudhury was attending IPU meeting on “Consideration of requests for the inclusion of an emergency item in the agenda of the 140th assembly at Doha Sheraton Convention Centre in Qatar. She demanded of the IPU, largest democratic organization of the world, to include the “Rohingya Crisis in Bangladesh” as an emergency agenda, along with the earlier demand of Indonesia for protecting the rights of Global Muslim Minority.

Referring to the role of Bangladesh, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as the mother of humanity by giving shelter to the forcibly displaced Rohingyas, the Speaker said the Premier raised a-five-point proposal before the UN 72th assembly for peaceful return of the Rohingyas. Shura Council of Qatar Speaker Ahmed Bin Abduall Bin Zaid Al Mahmoud presided over the meeting.

Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC) General Secretary Mouhamed Khourachi Niass was also present.
