Poetry festival on jute held

 Dhaka, March 4, 2018 (BSS) – The government today organized a poetry festival in the capital highlighting the glory of golden fiber as part of its ongoing campaign to make the use of jute and jute products popular ahead of the National Jute Day on Tuesday.

A total of 30 renowned poets of the country including Nirmalendu Goon, Asad Chowdhury, Nurul Huda, Asim Saha, Nasir Ahmed, Kazi Rozi, Jesmin Nahar and Shamim Ara Smrity joined the festival where their poems on jute were recited by Mahidul Islam and Rupa Chowdhury at the auditorium of National Museum.

Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor was present as the chief guest while State Minister for Textile and Jute Mirza Azam attended the programme as special guest, a press release said today.

Noor urged all poets and cultural activists to step forward with their creative works for making jute and jute products popular among the young generation.

Azam said the present government has been able to revive the past glory of the golden fiber. “Now, we are working on exploring international market especially with the various diversified jute products,” he added.

The government has chalked out weeklong programmes including rally, road show, art camp, poetry festival, water rally, seminar and symposiums from February 27 centering the National Jute Day.
