One to die, four get life-term for killing man in Chapain’ganj
CHAPAINAWABGANJ, March 20, 2019 (BSS) – A court here today sentenced a man
to death and jailed seven people on different terms for killing Samsuddin
Tagar in Gomostapur upazila of the district in 2013.
Additional District and Session judge Shawkat Ali handed down the verdict
to Robiul alias Robu, 25, son of Abul Kalam Azad at Purbajagat village under
Gomostapur upazila. The court simultaneously fined Robiul Taka one lakh
saying in default he would have to languish in jail for one year more.
The convicted people who awarded life term imprisonment are Kader, 27,
Shamsul, 30, Sham Mohammad, 57 and Apel, 20. They are the residents of
Mongotara village under Niamatpur upazila in Naogaon district. The court also
fined them Taka one lakh each, in default, have to suffer more one year in
jail.
The other convicts are Enamul Haque, 46, Sharif, 25, and Ainal Hoque, 35.
According to prosecution, the convicted people hit Shamsuddin Tagar with
sticks following a feud over a piece of land on January 22 in 2013 at
Enayetpur Bazar in the area. He was taken to Rajshahi Medical College
Hospital immediately where he succumbed to his injuries next day.
Victim’s brother Jamshed Ali filed a murder case with Gomostapur Thana on
that day accusing 21 people.
After investigation, police submitted chargesheet against the convicts to
the court on April 30 in the year.
After examining the witnesses, the court found them guilty and announced
the verdict today.
