‘Teachers should reduce dropouts, ensure quality education’

RANGPUR, March 19, 2019 (BSS) – The teachers of primary level schools and
other educational institutions should take the responsibility to reduce
school dropouts to zero level by improving quality of primary level
education.

Government officials expressed the view today at a discussion in an
Education Fair arranged by the Department of Primary Education on the Public
Library ground here in observance of the National Primary Education Week-
2019.

The Upazila Primary Education Offices of all eight upazilas and District
Primary Education Office set up nine stalls on the fair premises displaying
their innovative projects on primary education, education inputs and
materials.

Hundreds of primary level students, teachers, member of school managing
committee (SMC) members, guardians and civil society members visited
different stalls on the fair ground and enjoyed a colourful cultural
function.

Deputy Commissioner Enamul Habib attended the discussion as the chief
guest with Divisional Deputy Director of the Directorate of Primary Education
Md. Abdul Wahab in the chair.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT) Ruhul Amin Mian and
District Primary Education Officer Md. Shahidul Islam addressed as the
special guest.

The speakers said the primary level teachers should work with dedication
to make various pragmatic steps taken by the present government to turn
children into worthy citizens through ensuring quality primary education.

They called upon the primary level teachers to teach their students modern
teaching skills, methodologies and techniques in classrooms like their own
child so that the students could easily understand their lessons.

The chief guest said the teachers should give stronger basic foundation to
the children to prepare them for the modern science and technology-based
higher education to become worthy citizens for serving the nation.

He called for bringing a positive change in the primary education sector
involving teachers, SMC members and guardians to ensure 100 percent
enrollment, improving quality of primary education.
