DHAKA, March 8, 2019 (BSS) – Dhaka University former Vice-Chancellor Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique today said the UNESCO has preciously valued Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by recognizing his landmark 7th March speech as part of the world’s documentary heritage.

“The recognition of Bangabandhu’s March 7 speech as an important documentary heritage has virtually endorsed his (Bangabandhu) contributions to enriching the human civilization,” he told a discussion of Bangabandhu Parishad at Jatiya Press Club auditorium.

He said until his martyrdom, Bangabandhu, the architect of independent Bangladesh, had continued raising his voice for the deprived, repressed and persecuted human beings of the world.

“Bangabandhu had struggled throughout his life for economic and social emancipation of the Bangalee nation. He (Bangabandhu) had fought for building a prosperous and developed nation so that its people can live with raising their heads high before the world,” the former DU vice-chancellor said.

Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University vice-chancellor Prof Kamal Uddin Ahmed, Bangabandhu Parishad acting general secretary Mahbub Uddin Ahmed and Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University vice-chancellor Prof Md Alauddin, among others, spoke on the occasion. Dr SA Maleque chaired it.

On October 30 in 2017, the historic 7th March speech of the Father of the Nation has been included in the Memory of the World International Register, a list of world’s important documentary heritage maintained by Unesco.
