Donate blood, save lives: health minister

DHAKA, Feb 15, 2019 (BSS) – Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque today urged the people to come forward in donating blood voluntarily to save life terming blood donation a benevolent service for mankind.

“Blood donation is a benevolent service for mankind. A nation can get united through providing service to mankind,” he told a function of Quantum Foundation at Jatiya Press Club auditorium here.

About the fire incident at Suhrawardy Hospital, the minister said the massive fire incident did not claim any causality as doctors, nurses, employees and people of strata of life came forward unitedly in the wake of the incident.

Some 300 donors, who donated blood 10, 25 and 50 times, were honored in the function giving certificate, ID cards, honorary crests and medals.

Professor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Hematology Department Dr ABM Yunus, Chief Coordinator of Quantum Foundation’s voluntary blood donation campaign Madam Nahar Al Bokhari, among others, addressed the function.
