11 killed, 18 injured in separate road accidents
DHAKA, Jan 28, 2019 (BSS) – At least 11 people were killed and 18 others
injured in different road accidents, including in the capital, across the
country since early hours of today.
Three people were killed and two others injured in two separate road
mishaps in airport and 300-feet areas in the city around 1 am and 2:30 am
respectively.
The deceased are identified as Dalim, 23, his brother-in-law Mobarak
Hossain, 31, and Bulbul Hossain, 21. The injured persons are Sagar, 20, and
Qamrul, 22.
Sub-inspector of Airport Police Station Asaduzzaman said, “Dalim and
Mobarak died on the spot as a rod-laden truck hit them when they were
crossing the road beside Haji Camp around 1am”.
Besides, two minor siblings were killed and their father was seriously
injured when a truck hit a motorcycle carrying them in Keraniganj, on the
outskirts of the city, at 10:30 am today.
According to the Keraniganj police sources, the deceased Fatima Afrin and
Afsar Hossain were students of class five and four respectively at Cosmo
Metropolitan School and College.
After the accident, their injured father Samsuddin Dalim was rushed to Sir
Salimullah Medical College Hospital.
In Mymensingh, two people were killed and 15 others injured in a road
accident on the Mymensingh-Dhaka Highway under Trishal upazila this morning.
The victim were Almin, 25, driver of a Truck and helper Hafizuddin hailed
from Trishal upazila.
Police said the accident occurred at 7:30 am in Bogar Bazar area under the
upazila on the high way when a Bhaluka-bound bus of a garment factory
collided head on a truck which was coming from opposite direction.
In Madaripur, a pedestrian was killed as a rice-laden truck hit him losing
its control near the Dada Bhai Toran in the town.
The deceased was identified as Milan Hawlader, 45, a local businessman.
Besides, two motor cycle riders were killed as a truck hit them in front
of Sreepur Palash Petrol Pump in Rajbari town last night.
The deceased were identified as Hridoy, 28, and Shanto, 30.
According to the police, the truck was seized, but they could not detain
the driver of the truck.
In Narail, a hotel staff was killed as a motor cycle hit him near the
sadar hospital in the afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Mamun Hossain, 20.
