Dipu Moni for expansion of science based education

DHAKA, Jan 25, 2019 (BSS) – Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni today called for expansion of science based education to create skilled workforce for building an economically prosperous Bangladesh.

“We are taking steps to attract the students for continuation of their studies on science to foster economic progress of the country,” she told the inaugural function of the ninth Bangladesh Chemistry Olympiad-2018 at the Curzon hall of Dhaka University here, an official release said.

President of Dhaka University Alumni Association AK Azad and General Secretary of Bangladesh Chemistry Association Dr Md Aftab Ali Sheikh, among others, addressed the function with President of the association Md Abdul Karim in the chair.

Dr Dipu said, “We are offering special facilities for meritorious teachers to improve quality of education. As teachers are the architect for improving standard of education, we are also recruiting brilliant candidates for the teaching profession,” she added.

“Our children are extremely brilliant…If they are given adequate facilities, they will do better at international level,” the minister added.

A total of 23,500 multimedia classrooms have been set up at schools in order to introduce ICT-based education, she said.

Teachers have been given training to develop digital contents so that they can make classes interesting and enjoyable by using multimedia projectors, she added.
