Language veteran Abdul Jalil passes away
CUMILLA, Jan 24, 2019 (BSS) – Md Abdul Jalil, a language movement veteran, died of old-age complications at his residence at Laksam upazila in the district today.
He was 72.
Jalil, a local noted journalist, is survived by wife, three sons, two daughters and a host of relatives and admirers.
He was buried with state honor at his family graveyard at Chandana village of Laksam upazila after Esha prayers following his two namaz-e-janazas held at Uttar Bazar Jame Masjid and Uttrda High School ground of the upazila in the district.
Laksam Pourasabha Mayor Md Abul Khaer, Upazila Nirbahi Officer and leaders of different political, social, cultural, journalists and professional organizations joined the janazas.
In a message of condolence, Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Md Tajul Islam today expressed profound shock at the death of language movement veteran Md Abdul Jalil.
The minister also prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.
