Grant management training for youths stressed

RAJSHAHI, Jan 21, 2018 (BSS) – Speakers at a workshop have said the youths, both boys and girls, need training on financial management relating to local government institution activities for grooming up their latent knowledge on the issues.

They viewed designed and specific planning is very important for any strong financial management which is essential for successful implementation of the planning.

To this end, the youths should come forward and work together for ensuring the optimization of the system of local government with people participation.

The observation came at the daylong training workshop for youths titled “Training on Grant Management” held at Mohanpur Upzilla Parishad conference hall in the district on Saturday.

The Hunger Project Bangladesh organized the training in association with PRODIGY programme and British Council focusing on the importance of Grant management, citizenship, governance and local governance and good governance sector.

PRODIGY programme intends to build the capacity of young people to ensure good governance in local government activities and they can lead people participation. It also works to promote civic participation and advocate the principles of integrity, accountability, transparency and inclusive at the heart of good governance.

Upazila Chairman Prof Abdus Samad, college teachers Asad Ali and Mofizur Rahman and public representative Babita Khatun addressed the closing session in the afternoon.

Field Coordinator (Monitoring and Operations) of PRODIGY Program Subrata Kumar Paul and Program Officers Masum Rusel and Md. Joinal Abedin conducted the training as resource persons.

More than 36 youths particularly from the poor and marginalized families took part in the course.
