Comilla beat Dhaka Dynamites by 7 runs in BPL

DHAKA, Jan 22, 2019 (BSS)-It was an all-round performance came from
Thisara Perera, which help Comilla Victorians earn a seven-run victory over
Dhaka Dynamites in the 26th match of Bangladesh Premier League T20 held at
Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium here today.

Chasing a winning target of 154 runs set by Comilla, Dhaka Dynamites
found the chase stiff and eventually restricted at 146 for 9 in 20 overs.
Dhaka Dynamites started the chase badly as they lost four wickets within 50
runs in the score board.

Andre Russell and Shakib Al Hasan revived the Dhaka’s innings
contributing useful 62 runs for the fifth wicket stand before Thisara Perera
struck again on sending back to Russell.

Russell hammered 24-ball off 46-runs hitting two boundaries and five over
boundaries while Shakib fell to Afridi after scoring 19-run off 20-ball laced
with one boundary.

After the departure of two set batsmen, Dhaka Dynamites lost wickets in
quick succession and failed to stage a fight back in the match. Thisara
Perera was the pick of Comilla’s bowlers as he picked up three wickets
conceding 14 runs while Shahid Afridi bagged two wickets giving away 18 runs.

Perera of Comilla was named the player of the match for his brilliant
all-round performance.

Earlier, Comilla Victorians scored a competitive total of 153 for 8 from 20
overs after they were forced to bat first by Dhaka Dynamites.

Comilla suffered early batting jolt as they slipped 2 for 27 runs inside
2.1 overs.

But opener Tamim Iqbal and Shamsur Rahman kept the score board tricking.
Tamim smashed 29-ball off 34 runs hitting one boundary and two over
boundaries while Shamsur, the top scorer of Comilla’s innings, cracked 35-
ball off 48 runs with the help of three boundaries and one over boundary
before both were accounted by Shakib Al Hasan.

Later, Sri Lankan recruit Thisara Perera blazed 12-ball off 26 runs in
the middle that helped Comilla post a competitive total. Perera hit three
over boundaries during his brief hurricane knocks.

Shakib was the pick of Dhaka’s bowler as he grabbed three wickets
conceding 24 runs. He was well supported by Rubel Hossain and Andre Russell
as both picked up two wickets each giving away 26 and 27 runs respectively.

Despite the lose, Dhaka remained top of the table with ten points by
virtue of better run rate from eight matches, while Comilla Victorians placed
in third position also securing ten points playing the same number of
outings.
