Technical education vital for national development: speakers

RAJSHAHI, Jan 20, 2018 (BSS)-Speakers at a seminar here today observed that technical and vocational education and training among the youths both male and female are critically important for transforming Bangladesh into a middle-income nation.

They viewed technical education could be effective means of building competent and skilled human resources and its role is very vital for a substantial and sustainable growth of national economy.

Role of skilled people is also very important for earning more foreign remittance which is significant for country’s development.

They were addressing the seminar titled “Role of Technical and Vocational Education and Training towards Sustainable Economic Development: Bangladesh Perspective” at Rajshahi Mohila Polytechnic Institute (RMPI) in the city.

Bangladesh Technical Education Board (BTEB) organised the seminar where the participants discussed ways and means on how to hold the forthcoming SSC/Dhakhil and Vocational Examinations properly and ensure a copying-free atmosphere.

All the centre-secretaries, principals and headmasters from 94 examination centres in Pabna, Natore, Naogaon, Chapainawabganj, Sirajgonj and Rajshahi districts joined the seminar.

Deputy Commissioner of Rajshahi Helal Mahmud Sharif and Additional Deputy Commissioner Nasima Khatun addressed the seminar as chief and special guests respectively with Nayeb Ali Mondal, Secretary of BTEB, in the chair.

Deputy Controller of Examinations of BTEB Abdul Hannan and Principal of RMPI Omor Faruque also spoke.
