Book-reading habit for enlightening citizens stressed

RANGPUR, April 18, 2017 (BSS) – Book reading habit can enhance knowledge of the citizens by removing their ignorance for building an enlightened society as well as a more civilised nation.

Member of the Parliament from reserved constituency Advocate Hosne Ara Lutfa Dalia made the observation while addressing prize distribution ceremony of the “Book Reading Competition- 2017” held at Bahar Kachhna Girls’ High School here on Monday afternoon as the chief guest.

Hazera Begum Memorial Library and ‘Agrodoot Gronthagar’ jointly organised the competition for the students of Bahar Kachhna Girls’ High School in the institution with a view to enhance their book reading habit since student life.

With President of ‘Agrodoot Gronthagar’ Rezaul Islam in the chair, Zila Parisahd Chairman Advocate Chhafia Khanom, city Awami League President Shafiur Rahman Shafi, Headmaster of the school Anwarul Haque, addressed the occasion as special guests.

Terming library as the treasure of knowledge, Advocate Hosne Ara Lutfa Dalia suggested the students to become library-oriented for acquiring academic as well as other necessary knowledge about the society, country and world as a whole.

“There is no alternative to reading books for acquiring proper knowledge as reading of books always enhances knowledge through removing immorality from the mindset of everybody to ultimately enlighten the society,” she said.

Dalia also suggested for arranging such book reading competitions frequently in all educational institutions to generate interests among the students on increasing habit of reading books to acquire more knowledge in building an enlightened national.
