DHAKA, Dec 22, 2018 (BSS)- US Ambassador to Bangladesh Earl Robert Miller today hoped that all parties of Bangladesh would shun the path of violence to ensure a peaceful election and a smooth democratic process.

“From my experience, I can say that violence hinders democracy and impedes the participatory process. All parties should follow the peaceful process in election campaign and ensure people’s rights of franchise on the Election Day,” said Earl R Miller.

The Ambassador came up with the remarks while addressing a programme held at the Teacher-Student Center (TSC) auditorium of Dhaka University (DU).

Dhaka University Debating Society (DUDS) and Win with Peace organized the programme as part of the inter-university debate competition.

Miller said that the young people can bring about changes that can significantly contribute to building a better world.

“What we need is energetic and passionate youths who can change the world suiting to needs of the people,” said the US Ambassador.

DUDS moderator Professor Mahbuba Nasreen, DUDS President SM Rakib Sirazy and General Secretary Abdullah Asad, among others, attended the programme.
