Rangpur ready to observe Martyred Intellectuals’ Day

RANGPUR, Dec 13, 2018 (BSS) – Different organisations and institutions will
observe the Martyred Intellectuals’ Day-2018 here tomorrow paying rich
tribute to the martyred intellectuals with renewed pledge for establishing
spirit of the War of Liberation.

Many socio-cultural, professional and political organisations will place
wreaths at the Central Shaheed Minar, hoist black and national flags at half-
mast, organise milad mahfils, discussions and other programmes to pay rich
tribute to the martyrs.

The district and city units of Awami League (AL), its associate bodies,
Rangpur City Corporation, Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangshad, Sector Commanders
Forum, JASOD, Workers Parry, BSD, CPB, Sommilito Sangskritik Jyote, Udichhi
Shilpi Gosthi, Shilpokola Academy, Begum Rokeya University, Carmichael
College, Rangpur Medical College, other organisations and institutions have
chalked out programmes to observe the day.

Rangpur Kendra of Bangladesh Betar will air special programmes while local
dailies will publish supplementary issues containing special articles
highlighting the significance of the Martyred Intellectuals’ Day.

Leaders of different organisations will begin observance by placing
wreaths at the Central Shaheed Minar and monuments of the martyrs, hoisting
of black flags and national flags at half-mast atop all public and private
buildings in the city.

Leaders of the district and city units of AL and its associate bodies will
place wreaths at the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh
Mujibur Rahman, Mural of Banglabandha and Central Shaheed Minar and arrange
discussions.

Acting President of district AL Mamtaz Uddin, it’s General Secretary
Advocate Rezaul Karim Raju, AL leaders Motahar Hossain Mowla, Abul Kashem,
Rosy Rahman and President of district Chhatra League Mehedee Hassan Rony will
address the discussion.

President of city unit AL Shafiar Rahman, its General Secretary Tushar
Kanti Mandal, leaders of Jubo League, Chhatra League, Swechchasebak League,
Sramik League and other associate organisations of AL will also take part in
the programmes.

Talking to BSS, General Secretary of district AL Advocate Rezaul Karim Raju
said the occupation forces with local collaborators killed the intellectuals
to make the nation talent-less evidently understanding defeat on the eve of
the country’s independence.

Immediate past District Muktijoddha Commander Mosaddek Hossain Bablu urged
the people to forge rock-solid unity like that in 1971 to foil conspiracies
being hatched by the anti-liberation forces against the country and its
people.
