HC bans on hiking of mobile call rate, call drop charge

DHAKA, Dec 13, 2018 (BSS) – The High Court (HC) today issued a ban on hiking the mobile call rate and charge for call drop from subscribers.

The court also directed the government to form a committee to fix the call rate.

It also issued a rule asking the authorities concerned to explain in four weeks why hiking of mobile charge without soliciting opinions from the subscribers should not be declared illegal.

In response to a writ petition, the court directed mobile operators to take necessary steps for stopping of sending unnecessary mobile SMS.

The HC bench comprising Justice Tariqul Hakim and Justice Md Suhrawardy passed the order and the rule following the writ petition.
