Rebel candidates will withdraw nomination papers: Nanak

DHAKA, Dec 8, 2018 (BSS) – Joint General Secretary of Awami League
Advocate Jahangir Kabir Nanak today said all the rebel candidates will
withdraw their candidature soon.

“Twenty-four rebel candidates submitted their nomination papers. Of them,
six-seven have already withdrawn their candidature from the electoral race,”
he said while talking to journalists at Awami League Chief’s Dhanmondi Office
here.

“An open letter of Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina
will be sent to all deprived candidates tomorrow,” he said.

Nanak also expressed hope that the rest of rebel candidates would withdraw
their nomination papers within tomorrow for the sake of party’s wellbeing.
The Awami League Joint General Secretary said the Election Commission (EC)
did not bow down to any pressure, adding, “The EC is continuing its
activities with neutrally and sincerity.

Among others, Awami League Organising Secretaries AFM Bahauddin Nasim, BM
Mozammel Hoque and Khalid Mahmood Chowdhury, Relief and Social Welfare
Affairs Secretary Sujit Roy Nandi, Forest and Environment Affairs Secretary
Delwar Hossain, Science and Technology Affairs Secretary Engineer Abdus
Sabur, Health Affairs Secretary Dr Rokeya Sultana, Education Affairs
Secretary Shamsun Nahar Chapa, Deputy Publicity Secretary Aminul Islam Amin
and Deputy Office Secretary Barrister Biplob Barua were present.
