Mohiuddin Chowdhury’s contribution recalled

CHATTOGRAM, Dec 6, 2018 (BSS) – Academics, educationists, public representatives and journalists today paid glowing tributes to former Mayor of Chattogram City Corporation A B M Mohiuddin Chowdhury and fondly recalled his outstanding contribution to the development of Chattogram city.

The speakers in a publication ceremony on “journalist friendly A B M Mohiuddin Chowdhury” said the people of the country have many things to learn from his life and works.

“Mohiuddin Chowdhury did huge development of Chattogram and he was uncompromised on the ideology and patriotism of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina,” said Prime Minister Media Advisor Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury.

Terming late Chowdhury as “Chattalbir’ he said after Bangabandhu Mohiuddin Chowdhury was an integral part of the history of Chattogram like Jahour Ahmed Chowdhury and MA Aziz.

The median advisor said Mohiuddin Chowdhury always followed the paths of Bangabandhu and his daughter Sheikh Hasina for the welfare of journalists.

Premier University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr Anupom Sen said Mohiuddin Chowdhury did a lot for overall development of Chattogram during his 17 years long political carrier as a mayor.

Chattogram city Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin said Mohiuddin Chowdhury groomed him up as a politician from the grassroots and became a legend for the have-nots by dedicating himself for the welfare of the humanity.

Chattogram Press Club published the memoir. The publication ceremony was presided over by CPC President Kolim Sarwar.

It was addressed, among others, by late Mohiuddin’s eldest son and organizing Secretary of Bangladesh AL Mohiubul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel, wife of late Mohiuddin Chowdhury Hasina Mohiuddin, President of Chattogram Union of Journalists Nazim Uddin Shyamol, CPC general Secretary (GS) Suklal Das, journalist Moazzamul Hoque and Jubo League leader Mohiuddin Baccu.
