AL wants inclusive election: Quader

DHAKA, Nov 30, 2018 (BSS) – Awami League (AL) General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader today said Awami League favours holding of the upcoming general election in a free and fair and credible manner.

“We expect that all political parties will participate in the next parliamentary polls,” he told a press briefing at the political office of AL’s president Sheikh Hasina at Dhanmondi here.

Quader said BNP is resorting to falsehood to foil the next general election sensing sure defeat in the national election. He urged BNP to shun their ill political motives for flourishing democracy in the country.

“We are following electoral of code of conduct for holding a peaceful and acceptable election. All political parties should extend their cooperation to the Election Commission for holding participatory polls,” Quader added.

“We do not want to believe in any numerical prediction on getting seats in the polls. The people will decide it,” he said.

The AL general secretary said before the 2008 election, BNP had predicted that AL could get 30 seats but BNP itself had got 29 seats in the polls.
