3056 candidates submit nomination papers: EC sec
DHAKA, Nov 28, 2018 (BSS)- A total of 3056 candidates submitted nomination papers to contest in 300 constituencies on the last day of submission of nomination paper today for the 11th parliamentary election slated for December 30.
“Candidates have submitted their nomination papers across the country in festive environment. We didn’t receive any report regarding the violation of code of conduct so far,” Election Commission Secretary Helaluddin Ahmed told reporters this evening at Nirbachan Bhaban in city’s Agargaon.
Of the total nomination papers, 708 nomination papers were received in Dhaka division, 188 in Chattogram division, 353 in Rajshahi division, 177 in Sylhet division, 351 in Khulna division, 236 in Mymensingh division, 182 in Barishal division and 361 in Rangpur division, he added.
Ahmed said the highest 22 candidates submitted nomination papers for Dhaka-8 constituency while the lowest four candidates submitted nominations for Magura-2 constituency.
Besides, the EC secretary said a total of 39 candidates submitted their nominations through online. All nomination papers will be scrutinized later, he added.
On the hand, Ahmed said the Public Security Division of the Home Ministry has been asked to withdraw Narayanganj Police Super Anisur Rahman.
