107 DU students get Duke of Edinburgh’s Award

DHAKA, Nov 22, 2018 (BSS) – A total of 107 students from different
departments of Dhaka University (DU) have been awarded ‘The Duke of
Edinburgh’s International Award’ for their success in various extra-
curricular activities.

Among them, 30 students received Silver Awards while 77 others Bronze
Awards, a DU press release said.

DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman distributed certificates among
the students as the chief guest at a function held at the RC Majumder
Auditorium of the university today.

Director of Students Counseling and Guidance Office of DU Dr Mahjabeen
Haque presided over the function.

Chairman of Executive Committee of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award
Foundation Rizwan-Bin-Farouk spoke on the occasion as special guest.

Prof Akhtaruzzaman congratulated the awardees. He stressed the need for
enhancement of skills and qualities of young generation to achieve
sustainable development goals (SDGs).

“Students have to participate in extra-curricular activities along with
their academic ones to make themselves as worthy citizen,” he said.

The DU VC urged the students to equip themselves with moral values.
