CPD to hold event on SDGs tomorrow

DHAKA, Nov 19, 2018 (BSS) – The Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD) will hold
a research-policy meeting titled ‘Interpreting SDGs for South Asia: In Search
of a Regional Framework’ in the capital tomorrow.

The opening session of the event will be held from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at
Golden Tulip The Grandmark Dhaka in the city’s Banani, said a press release.

The event will launch a research project with studies from nine countries
from South Asian region.

The project is focusing on respective development priorities from the
perspective of delivering the United Nations 2030 Agenda.

The proposed study will also seek to design a regional framework which will
support delivery of the SDGs in South Asia. A total of eight eminent scholars
and experts (from Afghanistan, Bhutan, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan and
Sri Lanka) will attend the two-day event in Dhaka.

PM’s International Affairs Adviser Professor Dr Gowher Rizvi will be
present at the opening session as the chief guest while Foreign Secretary Md
Shahidul Haqu will attend the session as special guest.

Heads of the missions of participating countries will speak as Guests of
Honour at the opening session.

Distinguished Fellow of CPD Dr Debapriya Bhattacharya will make a
presentation at the session on the overarching issues of the study to be
chaired by Executive Director of CPD Dr Fahmida Khatun.
