Art exhibition begins at DU Fine Art Faculty

DHAKA, Oct 25, 2018 (BSS) – The annual art exhibition of Dhaka University’s Printmaking Department began here today with a pledge to make fine arts a medium for intellectual exercise for social advancement.

Organizers said a total of 130 art works from 39 students of the Printmaking Department are being exhibited in the event at Zainul Gallery of the Fine Art Faculty on the campus.

On the first day of the exhibition today a number of students were awarded for their best art works.

The exhibition will continue till October 31. It will remain open every day from 11am to 8pm.

DU Vice-Chancellor Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman inaugurated the exhibition as the chief guest with acting chairperson of the department Assistant Professor Sheikh Md. Rokonuzzaman in the chair.

Fine Art Faculty Dean Professor Nisar Hossain was present as the special guest while Professor Syed Abul Barak Alv, artist Ahmed Nazir and artist Nasrid Kibria were present at the function as the guests of honor.

While addressing the programme, Prof Akhtaruzzaman said such kind of exhibition creates room for intellectual exercise, a pre-requisite for social advancement.

“Through the exhibition the students of the Printmaking Department will be able to present their artistic excellence and creativity necessary for flourishing modern fine arts,” he said.
