Freedom Fighter Shekhor Dastidar passes away
CHATTOGRAM, Oct 25, 2018 (BSS)- Shekhor Dastidar, a valiant freedom fighter and former principal of Chattogram Government College, died of lung cancer in a city hospital in the early of hours of today.
He was 65, college and family sources said.
He left behind his wife, two sons, a host of relatives and admirers to mourn his death.
Dastidar was a nephew of Purnendu Dastidar, a close associate of legendary anti-British revolutionary Masterda Surya Sen.
He had been suffering from lung cancer for a long time.
Principal of Chattogram Government College Prof Abul Hasan said the mortal remains of Dastidar was brought to the college premises at 10 am this morning where he was given sate honour.
Teachers of all colleges, leaders of Bangladesh College University Teachers’ Association, Primary School Association, leaders of Bangladesh Chhatra League and Chattogram College chapter paid last respect to the most reverenced teachers by placing wreaths at his casket.
The mortal remains of Dastidar was cremated in city’s Bolwardighi crematory this afternoon with full state hour amidst other ritual.
