BNP Standing Committee member Amir Khasru placed on remand

CHATTOGRAM, Oct 25, 2018 (BSS)- A Chattogram court today placed the
detained BNP leader and former commerce minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury
on one day remand in a case filed under the ICT Act.

The court of Metropolitan Magistrate Shafiuddin placed BNP Standing
Committee member Amir Khasru on one day remand after investigating officer
Sanjay Guha prayed for a petition seeking to place him for two-day remand.

The defense lawyer of Amir Kasru also placed a bail petition but the judge
turned down the petition and placed him on one-day remand.

A Chattogram court on October 21 sent Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury to jail
after rejecting his bail petition in a case filed under the ICT Act.

Chittagong Metropolitan Session Judge Akbar Hossain Mridha passed the order
after Khasru surrendered before the court as his anticipatory bail granted by
the High Court expired on Oct 21.

Earlier, the High Court granted the BNP leader six weeks anticipatory bail
shortly after filling the case.

Jakaria Dastagir, acting general secretary of Chattogram city unit of
Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), filed the case under ICT act with Kotwali
thana on August 5, against Amir Khasru after a phone conversation allegedly
between him and a BNP activist was leaked out and got viral in social media.
