Collapse of arms control treaties would lead to new ‘arms race’: Putin
MOSCOW, Oct 24, 2018 (BSS/AFP) – Russian President Vladimir Putin on
Wednesday said that a collapse of arms control treaties would lead to a new
arms race after US leader Donald Trump promised to jettison a key Cold War-
era treaty.
Putin said if the United States abandons a nuclear treaty known as the INF
and refuses to renew an agreement known as the New START then the “situation
would be extremely dangerous”. “There would be nothing left except an arms
race,” he said.
