Bijoya Dashomi tomorrow

DHAKA, Oct 18, 2018 (BSS)- Bijoya Dashomi of the five-day Sarodia Durga Puja, the biggest religious festival of the Hindu community, will be celebrated tomorrow.

Durga Puja will end tomorrow with solemn immersion of Goddess Durga in the capital as elsewhere across the country.

Durga Puja began on October 15 with the incarnation (Bodhon) of the Goddess Durga on the day of Maha Shashti at temples across the country.

Maha Saptami puja was observed on Tuesday (October 16), Maha Ashtami, Kumari Puja and Sandhi Puja on Wednesday (October 17) and Maha Nabami Puja on Thursday (October 18).

The five-day festival will come to an end with the emersion of the idols of goddess Durga in the nearby rivers and water bodies tomorrow.

As many as 31,272 permanent and temporary pandals of Durga Puja have been erected across the country. This year puja pandals have been increased by 1195 compared to previous year.

Security measures have been beefed up at temples and pandals with deployment of additional squads of Ansar, police, RAB and other law enforcement agencies for peaceful celebration of the festival.

According to the government directives, the immersion of Durga’s idol should be done from 3 pm to 8 pm on the day of Bijoya Dashami.
