6 held over DU admission test ‘question leakage’

DHAKA, Oct 14, 2018 (BSS) – Six persons were arrested in connection with their alleged involvement in “question leakage and digital forgery” in the “Gha-unit” entry test of Dhaka University (DU).

Dhaka University Chief Security Officer Kamrul Ahsan filed cases against the arrested and some others with Shahbagh police Station, Proctor AKM Golam Rabbani told BSS.

The detainees are Jahidul Islam (45), Insan Ali Roki (19), Mostakim Hossain (20), Sadman Salid (21), Tanvir Ahmed (21), Abu Taleb (19).

“They were arrested with the help of CID’s Cyber Crime Team on Saturday from Doyle Chattar area of Dhaka University. Later, they were sued under the Digital Security Act. Cases were filed against them under Digital Security Act and Public Examination (Criminal) Act 1980,” Proctor Rabbani told BSS.

Earlier, the Dhaka University authority has formed a three-member probe committee led by DU Pro-VC (administration) Professor Muhammad Samad to investigate into the allegation of ‘question leakage’.

A rumour was spread that some screenshots of questions were seen on social media prior to the exam on Friday. The undergraduate admission test in 2018-19 academic session of “Gha-Unit” of Dhaka University (DU) was held at 81 centers inside and outside the DU campus where a total of 95,341 applicants fought against 1,615 seats.
