Meher Kabir laid to eternal rest
DHAKA, Oct 13, 2018 (BSS) – Meher Kabir, wife of late National Professor
Kabir Chowdhury, was laid to eternal rest at Mirpur Martyred Intellectual
Graveyard this evening.
Meher died of old age complications this morning at BIRDEM Hospital. She
was 99.
She left behind two daughters and host of relatives and well wishers to
mourn her death.
“She was suffering from old age complications for long. Lately, she had
lost her eyesight as well,” prominent artist Ramendu Mazumder told BSS.
Meher Kabir used to teach chemistry at University of Dhaka and earlier she
used to be a professor at Barisal Womens’ College.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death
of Meher Kabir.
In a condolence message, the prime minister prayed for eternal peace of
the departed soul and conveyed profound sympathy to the bereaved family.
