46th victory anniversary celebrated with a vow to build developed Bangladesh

DHAKA, Dec 17, 2017 (BSS) – The nation yesterday vowed to transform the country into developed one on the 46th anniversary of the country’s victory that had been achieved through the War of Liberation against the Pakistani occupation forces in 1971.

People of the country also celebrated the 47th victory day with due solemnity remembering with gratitude millions of martyrs who made supreme sacrifices to liberate the country from the clutches of the Pakistan occupation forces after a nine-month bloody war.

In observance of the day, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy and Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arranged a cultural function at 8 am on the premises of National Mausoleum at Savar outskirt of the capital city.

Artistes of Shilpakala Academy and Khude Ganraj, including Reeshij Shilpa Gusthi, Bahni Shikha, Satyen Sen Shilpa Gusthi and different prominent artistes, performed patriotic songs, dance and recited poems.

The Chhayanaut with the assistance of Dhaka University (DU) held a victory day celebration programme on the university’s central playground yesterday afternoon.

DU Vice-Chancellor Professor Akhtaruzzaman, Chhayanaut President Sanjida Khatun and Deepto TV Managing Director Kazi Jahedul Hasan inaugurated the live telecast programme.

Marking the day, Bangla Academy organized seminar, discussion and cultural function at the Nazrul Mancha on the academy premises with its President Emeritus Professor Anisuzzaman in the chair.

National University (NU) Vice-Chancellor Professor Harun-Or-Rashid presented a keynote paper on ‘Historical Perspectives of the Liberation War, Victory and Hero of the Victory’.

The Shilpakala Academy also organized another cultural function and discussion at its Iatiya Natyashala in the city yesterday evening.

Woman freedom fighter and former Home Minister Shahara Khatun addressed the function as the chief guest.

A victory fair titled ‘Deshbandhu Group-Channel I Victory Fair ’17’ was held at the Channel I square in the city’s Tejgaon area.

The fair was featured with seven memorial plaques after the name of seven Birshreshths. Different preeminent artistes and singers, including Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendro and Channel I Serakantha, performed music in the fair.

Impress Telefilm Limited and Channel I Managing Director (MD) Faridur Reza Sagar and Deshbandhu Group MD Golam Rahman were present in the inaugural function.
